These substances must not be classified as CMR under chemical legislation (CLP Regulation). Moreover, a potential migration must not be detectable at a detection limit of 10 ppb.

While plastics have long been governed under (EU) No. 10/2011, printing inks lacked comparable EU-wide rules, leading many countries to rely on Switzerland’s ordinance as guidance. Compliance is mandatory by the 1st of January 2027, following the end of the extended transition period.
